What do watch depth ratings mean?

Watch depth ratings mean that the watch design has been tested at an equivalent water pressure at least once. The
water resistance number on a watch does little to guarantee its performance in a real world environment. There is no universal standard for setting a watch depth rating, so if you want to see how deep a watch can go, you have to take it to that depth.
