Your watch is water resistant if it has a markings on the dial or case back (Sometimes Both) stating the level of water resistance. This will typically range from the common 20m or 50m rating to more water resistance watches rated 100m to up and over 3000M even.

Watch brands decades ago used to use the term "waterproof". This term was banned by the FTC as it was deemed misleading. We occasionally see some brands still using the term "waterproof". If you see a brand use this term, run, don't walk away from them as their marketing practices are deceptive and illegal under US law.
